#IMS11 Day One (Inbound Marketing Summit)
Posted by Joseph Ruiz
As I promised, here are a few takeaways from my first day at the HubSpot Inbound Marketing Summit in Boston.
This is my first summit experience, so i really wasn't sure what to expect. The program agenda is interesting.
First up Chris Brogan asked the obvious question "Why Google Plus"? The quick answer is - because technology evolves. He used some humor to illustrate the point, making reference to older technology like Star Tac phones, Prodigy, etc.
Chris told us to fall in love with people, not technology. He took us through some of the notable Google Plus features, explaining the benefits. I loved the fact games are only available when activated in this platform versus Facebook.
In Google Plus the About page is very important. Make sure you complete the Current Employment field using engaging, descriptive language. Why? Because when you hover over any Google Plus header the current employment section pops up.
Perhaps the most compelling reason to consider Google Plus is the SEO indexing factor. Chris says his content on this platform indexes faster than his Twitter or web site content.
Although Google Plus has grown quickly, Google is currently throttling back the volume perfecting the technology and user experience. Some day soon the real power of a larger audience will be unleashed.
Next Steve Garfield drew us all into his presentation, showing us how to literally create video content. Together we broke a record for most people simultaneously recording a video.
Steve has been creating quality video content for some time, his tips were really helpful.
Here we are creating a record breaking video!
The real power in a conference like this is meeting and interacting with people. I have enjoyed talking SEO with my friend Josepf Haslam from Dragon Search. I have been able to connect with other individuals I met online. I'll share more on this in future posts.
Day One is over, looking forward to implementing this new information.
Stay tuned.
