So you’re passionate about your business, but prospects aren’t beating down your door, ready to pounce on your enthusiasm. In fact, you’re having a hard time getting attention.
One solution to consider: If you don’t already have one, now might be the time to start a business blog.
According to Rebecca Churt at Hubspot, “web sites with a blog received 55% more visitors, 97% more inbound links and 434% more indexed pages than those that didn’t have a blog. Businesses in particular can capitalize on this because businesses that blog experience 126% higher lead growth than non-blogging businesses.”

But as with any business endeavor, making the commitment to develop a business blog is one that should be taken seriously.
Take into account the following considerations before you decide to take the plunge:
Are you aware of the time obligation it takes to maintain a blog? It is recommended that bloggers post at a minimum of 2-3 times a week. With each post you develop, it takes time to select a topic, perform relevant research, write, edit and proofread.
Don’t underestimate the resources it requires to maintain a blog. Unless it’s your full-time job, you’ll need some help with creating content that is valuable.
WARNING: Nothing leaves a bad impression like an unmaintained website or an untended blog. If content development isn’t taken seriously, mediocre output is what you can expect…and mediocre output guarantees mediocre results, AT BEST.
If you aren’t sure you have the gusto to make your business blog a priority, might I suggest you bow out of the idea gracefully– until you’re ready to fully commit. Better to hold off, so you don’t risk potential clients getting a ho-hum impression of you.
