I recently attended HubSpot’s Inbound Marketing Summit in Boston. Steve Garfield’s talk on creating video content was one of my favorites. It was practical, engaging and fun.
Why should you care about video? Fair question, here are a few compelling statistics:
According to ComScore, over 180 million (86%) U.S. audience members viewed online video for an average of 18.5 hours per viewer and engaged 6.9 billion viewing sessions.
Forrester Research says viewers who watch video on a retail website stayed on average twice as long as the ones who didn’t watch a video, and ultimately had higher conversion levels.
Video streaming grew 93% in the first six months of 2011 and video streaming now accounts for 39% of all mobile traffic. (Gigao)
Online product videos can boost conversion by 25% or more. (Internet retailer)
Forbes released a white paper on “Video n the C-Suite” that found more than 75% of C-Suite Executives surveyed said they watch work-related online video on business-related website at least weekly.
Steve Garfield’s 5-step storyboarding process provides a simple yet effective video content template that will allow you to start producing video content right now. Steve led us through this process during his talk, you can see it here.
Knowing we were going to set a new record was fun!
So don’t wait any longer, all you need is a smart phone or a handy video camera. You will have an effective new way to engage your customers.
