Mobile Marketing Update
Mobile marketing revenues are expected to increase to over $24 billion worldwide in 2013
Even with the robust projected rise in this medium, there are several things you need to ask before deciding to incorporate mobile marketing strategies and tactics into your marketing mix. Go to our blog post on Mobile Marketing to read about these important considerations.
Long Term Care Insurance Premiums Rising
Many long-term care insurance premiums have increased anywhere from 10-40%, and more are likely to do so if state regulators approve insurance agencies’ requests for increases. Long-term care insurance covers the cost of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and in-home care.
The increases are due to longer average lifespans, which have in turn increased the number of claims. In addition, fewer people than expected have cancelled policies, and low interest rates have meant that insurers are earning less on the investments that back the insurance policies they issue
Companies that have applied to increase rates include insurance giant John Hancock Financial; MetLife Inc; Lincoln Nation Corp; and American International Group Inc.
Approximately 8 million Americans have long-term care insurance, and the average cost in premiums is $2,150.
Most financial planners say that dropping insurance because of rate increases is one of the worst financial moves you can make. That’s because you walk away from a policy you have typically invested a lot of money in, without getting anything back.
A better option might be modifying coverage in order to obtain lower premiums. You can also reduce the number of years the policy covers; lower the amount of time you pay on the policy by making higher payments (the shorter your payoff period is, the less likely you are to be affected by a rate increase); or perhaps even as your heirs to contribute.
Another option to consider is a hybrid policy. Such policies link long-term-care benefits with your life insurance or annuity by letting you make tax-free withdrawals to cover long-term care.
Long term care insurance plays an integral part in things that today’s consumer must consider. Given such factors as the spiraling costs of healthcare, the extended aging of the population and the probable diminishing of financial assistance that consumers will receive, how does it factor into your personal financial plan going forward?

At the end of the day, people do what they want to do…and clearly people enjoy the interaction of connecting and sharing with others online. Oneupweb’s The Bloody Truth about Social Media points out that people are spending more time engaging with video content than any other type of content online. “The average person spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube—that’s five to ten times as long as most people spend on your website.”
Video offers the benefit of stimulating all our senses, and it’s not difficult to come across folks on YouTube who share the same joys, frustrations and experiences that we can relate to.
For example, ever feel like you’re trying to do your best and all forces are against you? When trying to take a couple of minutes out of your busy day to help our environment and recycle, it can backfire on you like it did for this guy here.
Through online video, we can find inspiration through learning about others’ personal experiences that have motivated them to become more than they thought they could be, like in this athlete’s story
Online video can be a venue to voice thought-provoking material about things that matter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnh9q_cQcUE.
So at the end of the day, what is it that you want to do? What things matter most and how can you connect with others to make a difference and affect positive change? There’s a universe out there waiting to watch and connect with you!
